Other Fundraisers to Support
If you like barbecue, you can eat to your hearts content this weekend and the weekend before Palm Sunday.
Our friends at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church are serving up barbecue plates to raise funds on March 13th (4-8:00 p.m.) and 14th (11-2:00 p.m.). Dine-in or take-out. Call 828-396-7300 for more information.
On March 27-28, Wayne and Jeff Yount are having another fundraiser for Bleaka and Monte Hollar to help with their medical bills. The address is: 4680 Burns Road, Granite Falls. Signs with balloons will show you the way. Plates are $12.00 each. They are selling whole Boston Butts for $45 each and chopped BBQ at $12 per lb. both of which must be pre-ordered by March 23rd. Call or text Trey Hefner at (828) 502-3793 or Jeff Yount at (828) 896-7368. If you order 10+ plates, they can deliver.
Times for the Yount fundraiser are Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, 11:00 a.m. 'til sold out.
We thank you for supporting these worthy causes.
Healing Service, March 8 - Report
We had a great turn out for the Healing Service, and it was an emotional and uplifting worship and prayer time. May God bless everyone who attended and came forward for prayer and anointing.
Our regular worship service at 9:00 a.m. on March 8 will be devoted to praising God for his healing power. All are welcome to come for special prayers and anointing. Please write your name and/or the names of other people on the Prayer Card enclosed in the bulletin, and hand over to Pastor Simon during the time of anointing and prayer.
Dear Lord, bless the people who come forward, and answer their heart-felt requests with healing of body, mind, and soul. To God be all the glory. Amen.
Poor Man's Supper Benefit - Report
We had a fantastic outpouring of love at this benefit and, so far, have raised over $12, 500 to help the Hollars with their medical bills. May God bless everyone who gave so generously!
On Saturday, February 28th, 4-7:00 p.m., we will have a Poor Man's Supper in honor of Bleaka and Monte Hollar. Plates include pinto beans, potatoes & onions, fried cabbage, cornbread or Mexican cornbread, beverage, and your choice of homemade dessert for donations to help the Hollars pay medical costs.
The Hollars have served our church and our community for many years as faithful, hardworking members of Ebenezer. Bleaka has served as our Lay Leader and Monte Hollar has served on various committees and helped with cooking our fundraising meals. As Lay Leader, Bleaka has kept our church active in the community in helping the needy and supporting the local schools and other ministries. Please help us to honor them by eating with us and giving a donation in their time of need.
We thank you for your support and prayers.
Ash Wednesday Service, 7 PM
On February 18th we will have our annual Ash Wednesday Service at 7:00 p.m. to prepare us for the season of Lent as we spend more time in Bible study, prayer, and praise of our Lord and we confess our sinfulness and need of our Lord's great sacrifice on Good Friday. Traditionally, Christians choose some activity or thing to give up for this 40 day season as they strive for a deeper relationship with the Lord who died to set them free from the tyranny and the consequences of sin in their lives. Visitors are encouraged to attend.
Special Guests February 8th
We will have 2 special guests, Pastor Maurivam Costa and his wife Isabel this coming Sunday, February 8th. They are both good singers and will be singing and Pastor Maurivam will deliver our message for this service. The Pastor and his wife work with Finding Hope ministries in Brazil, which sets up group homes for orphans as they do in Romania. Come and be blessed as they tell us about their mission work in Brazil.
Special Service Jan. 30 at 5 PM
We are worshiping tonight at 5:00 p.m. for those who can get to Ebenezer Church. We hope to also stream the service on Facebook. All activities for Feb. 1 are cancelled because of incoming foul weather. Drive carefully in God's care.
Foul Weather Plans - January 25
Ebenezer Church will be closed on Sunday, January 25. All activities are cancelled. I assume that the Blood Drive on Monday is also cancelled and will be rescheduled. We will send out an announcement to our members on our phone tree system on Saturday afternoon if we decide to cancel our in church worship and Sunday school classes. If we do not cancel the services, please do not come to church if you cannot get there safely.
If power and the internet are available, Pastor Simon's sermon will be on our Facebook page or you will be able to access it through your phone with Free Conference Call. More information will be sent in emails to our members.
Red Cross Blood Drive, 1-26-26
Cancelled because of sleet and cold. Rescheduled for March 30th.
Our annual winter Blood Drive is on Monday, January 26 from 2:30-7:00 p.m. Hot soup and toasted cheese bread, plus homemade desserts will be served to donors and workers. Make your appointment online at RedCrossBlood.org and search with EbenezerUMC or zip code 28630 for our drive. We thank you for giving to this vital resource that helps save lives.
